A Meaningful Project from BUBFA for Early Cancer Detection
Students of Burhaniye Faculty of Applied Sciences carried out awareness activities across the district, emphasizing early detection of breast cancer through the “Life Without Cancer with BUBFA” project. The project started with training at KETEM and concluded with a pink balloon event.
Within the scope of social responsibility initiatives focused on public health, the Faculty of Applied Sciences in Burhaniye implemented a project highlighting the importance of early cancer detection. The “Life Without Cancer with BUBFA” project, prepared by faculty students, was conducted at the Burhaniye State Hospital KETEM Unit.
Launched under the slogan “You Are Valuable, So Is Your Health”, the project aimed to raise awareness about breast cancer and increase women’s participation in early screening programs. The initiative was conducted under the supervision of Dean Prof. Dr. M. Oğuzhan İlban, in collaboration with the Burhaniye District Health Directorate, and carried out by third-year students from the Department of Finance and Banking.
In the first phase of the project, Specialist Dr. Serkan Özdemir at KETEM provided students with training on breast cancer and early detection methods. Subsequently, awareness activities were carried out across the district to encourage participation in cancer screenings.
The promotional program held in front of Burhaniye State Hospital was attended by District Governor Cumali Atilla, Dean Prof. Dr. İlban, Deputy Mayor Ayten Tuna, district officials, and academic staff. The event concluded with a symbolic pink balloon release.
